Overview
Prague Castle is a castle complex built in the 9th century, occupies an area of almost 70,000 square meters (750,000 square feet). It is located across the Vltava River, recognized by the Guinness Book of Records as the largest ancient castle in the world.
The most important buildings in the castle include the Old Royal Palace and St. Vitus Cathedral. The complex also serves as the official office of the president of the Czech Republic.
Prague Castle has constructed more than a thousand years and covers a large area, which is also home to several other attractions, such as the St. Vitus Cathedral, the Royal Palace, St. George’s Basilica, and the Golden Lane.
Admission to the grounds is free, but some of the individual sites charge for entry. Therefore, we advise that you refer to the Prague Castle website for up-to-date opening hours and buy your tickets in advance.
