The climax of the carnival takes place on the ‘Trois Joyeuses’ (Three Joyful Days) before Ash Wednesday (a Christian holy day of prayer and fasting). During these days, Sunday to Tuesday, the town of Dunkirk embraces an atmosphere of excitement and celebration.
