The Coolsingel is the boulevard of Rotterdam, located in the Cool district. The street was recently renovated, mainly to improve traffic congestion and to serve pedestrians and bikes better. The new design gives the Coolsingel its appearance and allure back. Coolsingel is one of the best-known streets in central Rotterdam, stretching from the Hofplein to the Churchillplein.

The main attraction of Coolsingel is the Town Hall (Stadhuis). The building construction was completed in 1920, designed with a beautiful Duch Renaissance style. It’s somehow survived the WWII bombing. In order to see the well-decorated interior, you must book a guided tour through the city’s tourist office.

  • A war memorial – located opposite the Town Hall, in the busy Stadhuisplein, designed by Mari Andriessen.
  • The Beurs-World Trade Center – a high-rise building with a facade of greenish-blue glass.
  • The Bijenkorf (“Beehive”) department store and the 26-meters sculpture in the front of the building.

A short walk will get you to the popular shopping streets, Lijnbaan and Koopgoot.
